Ajda Pekkan who is known to be the 'Superstar' of Turkey, has just released her brand new album ''Cool Kadin'' (Cool Woman). The album has 11 new tracks and a remix version, including the hit of the same name, a funky disco hit ''Amazon'', and the famous aria ''Spente le Stelle'' (which was previously recorded by Emma Shapplin) in Italian. Tuba Önal (Tukey 1999) and Özge Fiskin (Sertab's brunette backing singer in 2003) are another highlights on the album, their names appearing on the credits as backing vocalits.
Since the word ''Superstar'' is dedicated to Ajda in Turkey, this year's Turkish representative Sibel Tüzün said during an interview that when it was clear that her song was going be titled ''Superstar'', she called Ajda, and asked her opinion on the matter- receiving Ajda's total and embraced support.
Ajda is familiar to Eurovision scene as she has represented Turkey with the song "Petr'Oil" in 1980, which finished 15th with 23 points. Although this was not a sparkling result, the song still remains a big hit in Turkey. The pop icon has been singing professionally since 1962 and she still tours around Turkey and Europe with many sold-out concerts. Her discography features many number one songs in 8 languages, and her albums and singles sell more than 10 million copied in 14 countries.
